Still chasing a stronger lift or a better time? You would have felt right at home at Masters League Games.
The Games ran from 23 to 25 October at Distillery Road Market in Eagleby. We joined the weekend with protein coffees, Hydroboost Carb+ on tap and a chance to talk through the products face to face.
There is plenty of training ahead
Masters League gives athletes aged 35 and over a place to compete. Its age groups run from 35 through to 70+, with divisions for different skill levels. You can read how the season works on the Masters League website.
We love seeing a competition make room for that. Turning 40, 50 or 60 still leaves room for a goal that gets you out the door and into the gym.
You might want to enter your first comp. You might want one more good rep than last week. Both give you a reason to keep showing up.
Give your next session some fuel
A competition weekend brings food and drink into focus. You have work to do, and you need a plan for what goes in your bottle and your bag.
Carbs are a fuel your muscles use during hard exercise. Your body stores some as glycogen, ready to use when you train. A carb drink is one way to get more fuel in when eating a big meal before a session feels awkward.
Our Hydroboost Carb+ puts 21g of carbs in each serve, along with electrolytes. We use cyclic dextrin and maltodextrin as the carb sources. Mix one level scoop with 300 to 500mL of cold water, as directed on the label, and sip before and during training.
It is handy for long or hard sessions, or an early start when you would rather eat breakfast later. Plan your meals around the session too. A scoop adds fuel to your day; it does not cover all your food needs.
If you like knowing what is in your bottle, our guide to the carbs in Hydroboost Carb+ explains the two carb sources and how they differ from sugar.
Keep protein in the picture
Protein gives your body amino acids, the building blocks it uses to make and repair proteins. That daily job includes your muscles and the tissues that support them.
Our Dairy Free Protein gives you 25g of protein per serve, with 28 serves in a tub. We use collagen peptides and add tryptophan so the formula contains all nine essential amino acids. Collagen itself is missing tryptophan. Adding it makes our mix a complete collagen protein.
Collagen helps make your tendons strong. Tendons connect your muscles to your bones and help you move. Our collagen and tendons guide explains where it fits alongside regular training.
Thanks to the Masters League crew and everyone who stopped by. We love getting the products out of the online shop and into a place where you can meet us. Here is to your next session, whatever goal you are chasing.
